City negotiating acquisition parcels for downtown redevelopment including 301 West Main and an HRDC trailer-court site

Catherine described ongoing negotiations to assemble parcels along West Main Street to create redevelopment opportunities. The city acquired 301 West Main last summer and has been negotiating with the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) to acquire the contiguous trailer‑court frontage (about 18 homes) that faces Main Street in order to aggregate sites suitable for commercial and mixed‑use redevelopment.

Staff said the Main Street frontage lots that would be acquired include homes served by a private water well and aging septic/sewer systems; plans would include decommissioning the well, reconnecting to city water, upgrading sewer service, and proceeding to a public charrette process to gather design input before seeking development proposals.
