Commissioners approve 19.5-acre airport land-swap addendum over one opposition

Attorney April Geltmaker read a first addendum to a public–private agreement concerning 19.5 acres the county owns at the airport that would be swapped to offset costs of aggregate bins needed by the new highway department and move the land onto the tax rolls. Commissioner Todd Ewen moved to approve the agreement and Commissioner Phillip Marshall seconded; the motion passed with Commissioner Tony Cardwell recorded as opposing.

Cardwell asked what the land would be used for, and Ewen responded that it was "not any of his business what the owner would do with the land," reflecting a point of disagreement among commissioners before the vote. The board recorded the vote and instructed staff to proceed with follow-up steps to implement the addendum.
