Spring Hill council votes to terminate city administrator; names interim administrators

The Spring Hill City Council voted unanimously to end the contract of the current city administrator and immediately appoint interim leadership to run day-to-day operations. Councilmember PJ moved to terminate the city administrator’s contract “without cause,” and the motion passed 5-0.

Following the termination vote, the council appointed Mike Mallon as interim city administrator and Jacob Spear as interim assistant city administrator to handle responsibilities during the hiring process. A council member said the workload would be “tricky navigating both their current responsibilities as well as this new set of responsibilities,” and supported appointing both staff members to provide backup during the transition.

No additional conditions or severance terms were discussed on the record. The council indicated it will start the search for a permanent city administrator and return with updates as the process moves forward.
