Council approves county agreement to advance City Lake Dam repairs after inspection findings

Council authorized an agreement with Johnson County to move forward on repairs to City Lake Dam following an inspection that identified scour issues and the need to increase freeboard to meet updated standards. Allison Abel explained the city has completed final plans (under state review), secured a temporary construction easement with the golf course, and needs the county agreement to proceed to bid.

Council emphasized the work is required to return the dam to compliance; staff said financing options include the stormwater fund or water fund and the county agreement is an administrative formality to close the funding loop so the project can be advertised for bids. The motion passed 5-0.
