Commission considers moving pre-agenda to accommodate Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony

Stuart relayed a request from the city manager proposing a public ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, with options to shift the city's pre-agenda meeting or to hold a remembrance and walk, timed to either the first plane impact at 8:46 a.m. or when the second tower fell at 10:28 a.m. He described a plan of remarks, bell ringing and a moment of silence and asked for direction from elected officials.

Commissioners discussed logistics and the challenge of timing with the pre-agenda. Vice Mayor Mimi May said it may be easiest to let staff bring the item up at Tuesday's meeting when a fuller commission will be present and make a final scheduling decision then. Staff will return with a recommendation for commissioners to approve or modify.
