Council adopts appropriations ordinance including $135,000 capital purchase

The Saint Bernard Village Council on July 23 adopted Ordinance 34-20-26, an appropriation and transfer ordinance the auditor previously explained. Auditor Brickwood told council the ordinance includes a $50,000 addition to streets and sewers for repairs on June Street near Procter & Gamble, $25,000 to upgrade phone services, increases for county health services and building maintenance, $40,000 for mold restoration at the safety center and a $135,000 capital improvement allocation intended for purchase of 4616 Vine Street.

Council moved to suspend the second and third readings and then adopted the ordinance by roll call, 7–0. Clerk read that the ordinance authorizes the auditor to appropriate and transfer funds and declares an emergency. Auditor Brickwood said the new phone system “will more than pay for itself in monthly invoices going down” and explained that equipment maintenance increases reflected added costs for older police cars.
