Resident raises short-term rental complaints; mayor says village rental program enforces compliance

During public comment a resident raised renewed complaints seen on social media about short-term rentals (Airbnb) and asked whether the village needed to revisit its policies. Mayor Stuchel responded that the village operates an active rental program involving the fire marshal, zoning and code enforcement and that the village cannot lawfully impose a numerical cap on short-term rentals distinct from other rental rules.

The mayor encouraged community members to report problematic short-term rentals so enforcement can proceed and said the village has addressed party-house concerns in the past through enforcement actions. No new ordinance or formal action was taken at the meeting on short-term rentals.
