Commission approves minutes, updates subcommittee rosters and hears staff reports

The commission handled routine business and staff updates at the start and close of its July virtual meeting. With no corrections, the June meeting summary was approved by voice vote. Chair Jim Restucci then presented a proposed slate of subcommittee assignments and said he had moved Commissioners Ransom and Tarleton onto the tolling committee; the commission approved the assignments after a motion and voice vote.

Staff provided updates on the September Tri‑State meeting draft agenda (a half‑day virtual session focused on climate action) and WSDOT assistant secretary Jeff Pelton briefed the commission on recruitment to fill a recently retired deputy position, noting second‑round interviews and an expected appointment in August. Commissioners also received subcommittee reports (TAC, MPO/TPO coordination) and reflected on recent votes, including the low‑income toll program and the importance of continuous public outreach. Chair Restucci adjourned the meeting and announced the Tri‑State virtual meeting for Sept. 1, 2026.
