Karen Durant, staff to the board, presented recommended changes to the board's salary-setting process, including aligning performance evaluations with fiscal decision timing and applying consultant-recommended market adjustments previously discussed.
"The current process aligns with a calendar year evaluation. For the process to reflect the most current performance of team members, consideration should be given to changing the process to have up-to-date evaluations aligned with fiscal year or just before board decisions are made," Karen Durant said as she reviewed the proposed sequencing.
A board member moved to adopt the board salary-setting authority process per the presentation; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. The change gives staff authority to realign evaluation timing; any specific salary increases would be discussed in executive session and brought back for board action as needed.
Durant noted the board previously adopted market adjustments (an 8% adjustment for executive director and deputy director roles and 2.6% for research and policy positions) and said next steps include possible executive-session reviews and submission of a decision package to OFM when appropriate.
