Board audit finds no findings; trustees cancel August meeting and set September 23 date

Karen Durant reported that the board's four-year accountability audit exit review found no findings in the selected areas (payroll, accounts payable, and the ombuds program) and included exit recommendations in the packet.

"The bottom line is that there were no findings from this," Durant said, noting selected areas complied with state laws, regulations and policies and that controls over safeguarding public resources were adequate.

Durant also presented a draft fiscal‑year 2026 close (finalization expected in September) showing a variance of about 5.6% and a projected biennial surplus of about 3% under the current allotments. After the update, a trustee moved to cancel the board's August 19 meeting; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board's next meeting was scheduled for September 23.
