John Weller, Planning Director, reported to the Board of Supervisors on July 8 that the Planning Department is managing a heavy load of zoning variance requests and that the Planning Commission's primary active item is a proposed zoning amendment addressing data centers. Weller said the Commission expects to complete final review next week; the draft will then be reviewed by the Township Solicitor and the Chester County Planning Commission before returning to the Board for consideration.
Weller also described other current items: an Eagle Scout project to organize the Historic Commission library and a variance tied to Exton Market Realty (222 N. Pottstown Pike), where a proposed car wash use is permitted but a canopy exceeded the required setback. He advised the board that DEP and Aqua PA will be testing the Robert Dean well and flushing water into the township stormwater system, and that letters are being sent to nearby residents to explain the permitted work.
Supervisor Libby Madarasz asked specifically about the variance linked to the Exton Market Realty plan; Weller clarified the canopy setback issue and the permitted status of the car wash use. No formal votes were taken on these planning matters at the July 8 meeting; the data center amendment will follow the solicitor and Chester County review process before returning to the Board.
