Council members described plans to support a large funeral and burial event in Mona after learning an anonymous donor paid for all burial plots for the family.
One council member reported, "someone anonymously...came and paid for all the burial plots," and members discussed operational needs including use of city loaders and dump trucks, opening multiple grave sites, watering and restoring turf and coordinating with the funeral home. Council members offered to provide staff time and equipment, including bringing loaders and dump trucks, and discussed staging and procession routes to accommodate an expected large turnout.
Members also discussed road construction timing and potential conflicts with the funeral procession. A council member said BHI told him there would be no closures from 200 to Cemetery Lane on Wednesday, but members flagged the risk of traffic impacts if work coincided with services. The council agreed to prepare the cemetery grounds and provide volunteer support where needed.
