Actors Conservatory Theater credits town grant for keeping programs affordable

Amy Coates, artistic director of the Actors Conservatory Theater, thanked the Town of Flower Mound for grant support that she said kept program fees low and helped the nonprofit serve an estimated 600 students this year.

"Support from the town of Flower Mound does much more than help us produce theatrical performances," Coates said, describing how grant funds bridge the gap between family fees and production costs. She told the commission the organization ran roughly 40 performances this season across main-stage, camp and academy programming and maintains a $95 main-stage participation fee while offering scholarships.

Commissioners asked about home base and enrollment; Coates said The ACT operates out of a leased 10,000-square-foot facility in Lake Park Plaza in Lewisville and had a season that included approximately 40 performances and outreach to roughly 12,000 audience members across events. She emphasized the grant helps provide professional instruction and keep programs accessible to families.
