Voices of Flower Mound thanks town grant as it marks 20 years

Dr. Arturo Ortega, music director of Voices of Flower Mound, told the commission that 2026 will mark the choir's 20th anniversary and credited the town's cultural-arts grant with widening access for singers who otherwise might not afford participation.

"The grant certainly helped us financially," Ortega said, explaining the funds supported music purchases, production costs and rehearsal materials that keep member dues from becoming a barrier. Ortega said the choir averages eight major productions annually and that roughly 5,006 people attend performances each season.

Ortega framed the grant as an investment that generates community return: visiting audiences from across North Texas bring positive impressions of Flower Mound, and choir members often donate volunteer hours at local observances and civic events.
