Board approves after-the-fact boathouse permit at 1727 Lake Berry Drive with revegetation requirement

Staff told the board the 1727 Lake Berry Drive permit is an after-the-fact application and that photos show active construction taken prior to a stop-work order. The project includes a boathouse/boat slip and an octagonal gazebo partially on land; staff listed the total structure at about 495 square feet, with a 30-foot length from ordinary high water and an 11-foot roof height. Staff said revegetation will be required to meet shoreline standards and a final vegetation inspection is a permit-closeout condition.

Board members discussed why nonpermitted construction had started, noted the practice of charging three times the normal permitting fee in such cases and asked staff to ensure building, stormwater and other department reviews occur during the permit workflow. A motion to approve the application passed, with the expectation that inspections and revegetation will be enforced as part of the permit process.
