A Winter Park Police Department representative (S4) told the board the department is seeing light overall lake traffic but ongoing compliance issues: the public is not always aware of the daily fee for dock use, and many stand-up paddleboarders, kayakers and canoeists are operating without required life vests and whistles. The PD said staff will place an informational sign at 'DinkyDot' and deploy an electronic message board within one to two weeks, and that enforcement patrols are active Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
"...the paddle boarders and the kayakers and canoers not having their safety equipment with them, their life vest and whistles," the PD representative said, urging improved signage and public education. Board members asked clarifying questions about the distance boats must maintain from docks and thanked the department for the outreach and enforcement plan.
