Resident warns Comal County court about Canyon Juniper Ranch wastewater permit

Denae Delaney, a resident who addressed the court during public comment, urged commissioners to scrutinize the Canyon Juniper Ranch wastewater permit renewal. "I'm here to talk about the Canyon Juniper Ranch wastewater permit renewal. It's 300,000 gallons per day," she said, and she cited TCEQ and EPA guidance that describes effluent as a pollutant.

Delaney presented a geophysicist's map and said the proposed effluent path crosses the Cow Creek formation and passes through faults and fissures that could channel effluent toward private wells. "There are 8,000 plus private wells that will be affected," she said, and warned effects could appear "within months." She also suggested reuse options and cited a Travis County resolution favoring 100% reuse or closed-loop systems.

Her remarks did not result in immediate court action; commissioners did not vote on the permit during the meeting. The county judge opened public comment, and Delaney concluded by offering to provide additional supporting materials to staff.
