Residents raise concerns about meeting recordings, website staffing and Community Center roof

An email from residents Bonnie and Al Dyer was read into the record at the Fairfield Town Council meeting on July 8, raising concerns about committee meeting recordings, the posting of Crossroads‑TV recordings on YouTube, and staffing for the town website.

Councilor Kevin Kitchin said he and Vice Chair Matt Townsend have been working on recording solutions and “believe the best course of action is to consult with Crossroads‑TV to determine the cost and availability of recording the meetings.” Town Manager Flewelling explained staffing changes have left the Town Clerk as the only employee maintaining the website: “The Town Clerk is currently the only employee maintaining the Town's website because the previous Administrative Assistant accepted another position.”

The Dyer email also questioned the town’s decision to pursue a full roof replacement for the Community Center rather than incremental repairs. Town Manager Flewelling said the replacement followed an inspection that found multiple leaks and drainage issues related to cast‑iron piping: an inspection intended to inform a localized repair revealed that a complete roof replacement was necessary. The council did not take formal action on the issue at the meeting but indicated staff will continue to provide updates.
