Library readies 125th anniversary events and supports town 250th celebration

Lawrence Public Library Director Alyssa Patterson told the council that the library will mark its 125th anniversary in July with events and activities throughout the month and listed programming tied to Fairfield’s 250th America Celebration on July 10–11.

Patterson said the library has added a Patron Pass to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and a pass to the Children’s Discovery Museum in Waterville and urged residents to contact the library for details and to reserve passes. She also announced family events for the 250th weekend, including a "Fireworks in a Jar" activity on July 10 (2:00–4:00 p.m.) and American Flag crafts and trivia on July 11. Patterson noted that the police department and the library will host a movie with popcorn at the Community Center on July 11 at 6:00 p.m., and that children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the movie.

Patterson said the library will also soon launch a chess club for all ages and asked the community to join events during the 250th celebration.
