County adds IT help-desk technician and law library assistant in FY 2026-27 budget

Josephine County commissioners on June 24 adopted the county's Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget and approved two personnel additions to the Internal Service Fund: a full-time Help Desk Support Technician budgeted at $124,600 and a half-time Law Library Assistant budgeted at $44,000. Budget Officer Arthur O'Hare told the Board the Budget Committee had approved the budget and the additions were presented to address operational needs identified during committee deliberations.

Information Technology Director Ken explained that increased demand for technical support, driven in part by expanded Sheriff's Office operations, has pulled senior technical staff into routine help‑desk duties. The Board adopted Resolution No. 2026-025 with the two position additions and approved the related supplemental FY 2025-26 budget (Resolution No. 2026-026) and the property tax levy resolution (recorded as Resolution 5.2026-029) by unanimous roll-call votes. Commissioners Martin and Richardson moved and seconded the motions; all votes were 3-0.
