Several residents asked the city to provide written documentation before the design advances, saying voters should be able to see what was included in the 2024 bond materials and what remains funded. Mark Anderson, speaking for a community group he said represented more than 200 members, asked for written answers to a set of specific questions including whether voters were told a new, larger building in a different location would be built and how much of the $20,000,000 authorization has been issued.
City staff responded that voters approved the $20,000,000 bond in 2024 and that the city is currently under contract for the bulkhead, docks, pilings and engineering services; presenters reported the bulkhead contract at roughly $7.02 million with a $600,000 contingency. Several commenters also requested technical backup (programming study, alternatives analysis, view‑impact studies) be prepared and posted so the public can review it before irreversible design choices are made.
