Presenters described a parallel project to extend a Harbor Walk through the adjacent Treadway hotel parcel and said the hotel owner’s engineers and architects are working on permits; city staff said the Harbor Walk will significantly improve pedestrian circulation from America’s Cup through the park and to boat access.
Steve Land said outreach has included the adjacent property owner and that engineering and CMC permits are advancing; presenters said the Harbor Walk has been drafted with an easement (Friends of the Waterfront participated) and could change downtown movement patterns by reconnecting the waterfront corridor. “One of the serendipitous happenings that came out of this,” a city speaker said, was the opportunity to reconnect the Harbor Walk where it previously had been blocked; presenters noted a multi‑year target with an aim to substantially open the connection by summer 2028.
