Resident urges action after months of camper, trash at 3358 Felts Avenue

Ken Sybert told the Stevens Point Common Council the property at 3358 Felts Avenue has been a longstanding neighborhood problem and asked the city to step up enforcement. "This gentleman throws his garbage out the front door," Sybert said, describing food scraps and other debris that drew vermin and have persisted even after repeated complaints.

Sybert said a camper occupied the property for more than seven months before it was removed and that neighbors had documented recurring waste and unreported activity. He said he had contacted multiple city offices and was frustrated by what he characterized as a slow enforcement process. In response, the presiding officer noted the camper had been moved, said the city has active orders with a July 28 inspection scheduled and described a forthcoming ordinance proposal on no camping in vehicles after a committee vote failed last week.

Sybert asked the council to enforce fines consistently and to act before public-health risks materialize. The council did not take additional immediate action beyond the staff update; the inspection and compliance timeline provided by staff remains the stated next step.
