Painter Lucy Maragni highlights Union life in 'Canvas and Threads'

Lucy Maragni introduced herself at the opening, describing the exhibition as a mix of painting media and a combination of older and newer work. "We have a show called Canvas and Threads Two Visions. In this show, it's mostly paintings or pastels or watercolors, oil paints, acrylics," she said, explaining the variety on view.

Maragni said some of her pieces are local scenes and landscapes drawn from daily life in Union. She noted animals figure prominently in several works, adding a personal touch: "I have certain landscape pieces that show my backyard, the life, Union life...and I also have many dog pictures" and invited visitors who like dogs to view those paintings.

Maragni's work in the show is presented alongside her sister's thread-based pieces, and curator Leslie James emphasized the curatorial intent to showcase local artists. The exhibition is on view through August 17 and works are for sale; visitors were asked to sign the guestbook and consult artist contact cards for purchases.
