Traffic study found low share of extreme speeders on Yardley‑Morrisville Road; residents press for continued patrols

Don Shannon and John Fierco spoke to the commission about speeding and large-truck traffic on Yardley‑Morrisville Road, asking for the results of a recently completed traffic study and for more visible enforcement near the neighborhood. "They did do a traffic study ... they went out there and then came back with some findings," a staff or police representative said, noting that extra patrols were placed shortly after the last meeting.

Meeting participants discussed enforcement thresholds under Pennsylvania practice. The presenter said speeders more than 10 miles per hour over the posted limit were a minority of drivers in the sample and that officers "did issue a citation or two." One attendee told the commission the corridor carries about 6,920 vehicles (count) and urged more routine visible enforcement, saying periodic two-day enforcement windows were insufficient to change drivers' behavior.

Commissioners said they would follow up with the police chief and provide residents with the full study results by email.
