Residents call Woodside/Delaware Rim a 'line‑of‑sight' hazard, urge moving utility box and sidewalk extension

Miller (1675 Del Drive) and other Delaware Rim neighbors showed photos of an 18‑wheel truck that was not visible when cresting the hill at the Woodside Road intersection, calling the location a "line of sight problem." "It's a line of sight problem there," Miller said, asking whether the utility box attached to a telephone pole, the hill and trees could be addressed.

Residents said the Pensbury school district altered bus routing this year, citing difficulties with buses turning at cul‑de‑sacs; as a result, parents are driving children to the Woodside/Delaware Rim intersection and sometimes holding traffic to let children cross safely. Neighbors asked the commission to explore lower‑cost mitigations such as asking homeowners to trim vegetation, moving the utility box or installing flashing crosswalk lights, painted buffer areas, or an extended sidewalk to the golf‑course crossing that would connect to the Merrick crosswalk and existing path.

Commissioners agreed to check with the police chief and with staff about which entities own the pole/box and whether the township has authority or funding to move equipment or extend the sidewalk; they referenced the 2019 sidewalk/master plan as a place to start discussing easement and funding options. No immediate engineering solution or timeline was adopted at the meeting.
