Allison Deusk, the staff hearing officer, announced on July 22 that she had approved three coastal development permits (CDPs) for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) within the city’s non-appealable coastal jurisdiction. She said she conducted site visits and reviewed the plans and staff reports for each project and that she had not received public comment on those items. "I did a site visit and reviewed the plans for the project as well as the staff report," she said when announcing the decision for 1317 Los Alamos Place, adding that the decision is final and not appealable.
The three approvals were routine procedural determinations under the coastal permitting rules. For 427 Cay Los Calleras, Deusk noted corrections to the staff report: required parking should be identified as two spaces for the primary residence and zero for the ADU, and one finding should state the ADU is a 578-square-foot unit with one uncovered parking space. She said those edits were made and that she agreed with staff recommendations to approve the project with the identified conditions of approval. For 234 Cooper Road and 1317 Los Alamos Place she likewise reported site visits, review of plans, no public comment, and agreement with staff recommendations.
Because these decisions were made in the non-appealable portion of the city’s coastal zone, Deusk stated the approvals are final. The hearing officer moved on to other agenda items after announcing the decisions.
