EMS director reports three new paramedics, efforts to train local EMTs

David briefed the commissioners on staffing improvements for the EMS department, saying three new paramedics have come on board and that five openings remain but three have been filled. He named Grant Thornton as one paramedic who "passed his national boards on first attempt" and will complete clearing steps to begin street duty later in August.

David said the department is partnering with local schools (including Twin Rivers) to create training slots and is investing in growing paramedic capacity from within the community. He described plans to reuse power-load systems to reduce costs on new ambulances and noted continued recruitment activity for remaining openings.
