Resident Daryl Houston told the council he experienced a power outage over the weekend and that the utility's automated line provided no effective help, a concern he said is particularly acute for elderly residents who rely on electrically powered medical equipment. "I experienced my lights being out over the weekend," he told council.
Houston also raised street-maintenance concerns on Sunset Drive, describing poor cold-patch repairs, and requested better departmental reporting and accountability. The mayor responded that he, Councilman Willis and Councilwoman Thomas met with a First Energy representative to raise grid and outage concerns and said, "they are aware of our concerns, and um we're just going to keep putting the pressure on." An attendee noted the vape shop website lists hours as 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; the council did not take regulatory action at the meeting but noted the business hours had been observed.
