The Groton Historic District Commission voted unanimously on July 21 to approve four certificate-of-appropriateness applications: HDC26-0037 (14 West Mystic Avenue), HDC26-0040 (31 Water Street), HDC26-0043 (8 Ice House Lane) and HDC26-0044 (2 Eldridge Street).
Commissioners moved, seconded and recorded unanimous yes votes with the three-member quorum required for approval. The approval for 8 Ice House Lane included a condition limiting the fence height to accommodate grade changes; commissioners amended the condition to allow up to six feet at the request of the applicant. The approvals were procedural following brief presentations and no public opposition during the hearing portion of the meeting.
The commission chair closed the public hearing portion of the agenda before consideration. For each item, staff and applicants provided materials describing materials and dimensions; commissioners asked clarifying questions about trim, material types and screening. No statutory references or outside authorities were cited during the votes. The commission also approved the minutes of its July 7, 2026 meeting by unanimous vote.
