Commission approves replacement transom sidelights at 14 West Mystic Avenue

The Groton Historic District Commission on July 21 approved an application to replace degraded single-pane transom sidelights at 14 West Mystic Avenue with true divided-light mahogany wood thermal glass units, configured three across the top and five across the bottom. The applicant also proposed two wall sconces, which commissioners discussed and did not oppose.

Commissioners asked only clarifying technical questions about materials and noted the replacements are like-for-like in appearance. The public hearing produced no speakers for or against the application. A motion to approve passed unanimously under the three-member quorum requirement.

"They look great," one commissioner said while reviewing the mahogany, true divided-light specifications. The commission closed the hearing and moved immediately to consideration and approval.
