Fort Rachel Marina pre-application: two 100-gallon propane tanks proposed; commission asks for screening

Representatives for Fort Rachel Marina presented a pre-application to place two 100-gallon LP tanks behind the shop building near a garage door. The presenter and commission discussed required clearances from doors and nearby condensers, flood-zone anchoring (eyebolts and cable), and visibility from the river. The applicant said the tanks measure about 5½ feet tall by roughly 3 feet in diameter.

Commissioners recommended screening—an L-shaped lattice or similar heavy-gauge cedar screening—so the tanks are not prominent from river views. Staff asked the applicant to include screening details in any formal application and to provide drawings showing clearances for the door and nearby mechanicals.

"They're about 5 and 1/2 feet tall by three about three foot diameter," the applicant said when asked about tank size. The commission emphasized screening and noted prior remediation at the same location (removal of a rusted 275-gallon oil tank) as context for the site.
