Sher Gregory of the Lindsey Pettis Greenway updated Lancaster County Council on the project's accomplishments and next priorities. Gregory said the greenway now includes about three miles of hard‑surface trail, a Main Street underpass and a recent quarter‑mile extension, and that the group has "raised 12.5 million dollars for the trail" and spent about $10.5 million to date. The presentation noted the trail ties to local destinations including MUSC Lancaster and medical offices near Marian Sims Drive.
Gregory and a city representative described the project as construction‑ready for multiple upcoming segments and thanked county council for local funding and bond support. Council members praised volunteer leadership and said the trail supports recreation and economic development goals; Gregory added the group estimates more than 20,000 visits annually at one monitored location and cited a three‑night holiday event that drew about 3,000 attendees.
