Greenway presenters say $3.5M segment to soccer complex is engineered and construction‑ready; state appropriation uncertain

Presenters described a planned priority segment that would run under Meeting Street to connect the trail to the Melbourne Steel Soccer Complex and Springdale Rec Center. They estimated the cost of that prioritized segment at roughly $3.5 million, said about $1.1 million in county capital project sales tax funds are available, and indicated the city had applied for a special appropriation from the state that had been reported as $3 million but was "up in the air" given the state budget situation.

Speakers emphasized the segment is engineered and permitted and described it as a "construction ready" project that could proceed as funds become available. Council members thanked organizers and noted the trail's role in attracting industry by improving quality of life.
