County approves $1.245 million to complete sheriff's evidence storage facility

County staff asked Lancaster County Council to approve an ordinance to appropriate $1,245,500 from the general fund unassigned fund balance to complete the sheriff's evidence storage facility. A staff presenter explained the facility will provide modernized secure evidence storage to preserve evidence integrity and support criminal investigations and court proceedings; staff said construction was substantially complete and the amendment restores previously authorized funds while covering roughly $30,000 in remaining contractual obligations.

The council voted unanimously to approve Ordinance 2026-2054. "The ordinance you have before you today is requesting council's approval to appropriate $1,245,500 from the general funds unassigned fund balance for the sheriff's evidence storage facility," the presenter stated while explaining the funds will close out and allow the project to be completed and closed out.
