The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a slate of routine administrative items during its July 23 meeting. The chair read correspondence from Police Chief Jeffrey Long recommending Spanish-speaking specialty pay for Officer Louis Collazo effective July 24 and noted an officer was reinstated and removed from administrative leave; the board approved that recommendation.
The board approved smaller CIB allocations including $1,300 for a Memorial Park street dedication and $11,400 for a Sportsplex entry air curtain, as well as renewing amusement device licenses for several local businesses. The board forwarded a resident’s request for an ‘autistic child’ sign at 6521 Idaho Avenue to engineering for follow-up and approved garage sale permits and right-of-way permits (water and gas service work in alleys) that did not require street closures or detours.
These items were approved by motion and voice vote; the meeting record shows unanimous 'aye' responses for these routine matters.
