Metro Arts says removed bike-rack artwork is being cleaned and will be reinstalled

Commissioners were briefed that the soundboard sliders bike-rack artwork by local artist Duncan McDaniel was removed from 12th Avenue South because the redevelopment of that site made removal necessary. Staff said they sought and received executive committee approval for removal and storage and confirmed the work is being cleaned and repainted with plans to reinstall at a nearby location along 12 South.

"The artwork is being cleaned and repainted...we are talking with our fellow metro partners about a new location along 12 South," Leslie said, and staff noted the action followed the executive committee’s authority to approve emergency removals when a full commission meeting is not feasible. Commissioners welcomed the update and staff said they will share reinstallation plans when confirmed.
