Council members used the announcements period to flag several upcoming outreach and ceremonial items, including a Pages in the Park reading event at Centennial Park, an Aug. 13 Cumberland River greenway walk-audit, and the Sept. 14 parks picnic likely at Morgan Park. Members also reminded colleagues about a Sept. 1 presentation honoring London McDaniel and the Vonda McDaniel Labor Day parade on Sept. 5.
Several members urged staff to make it easier for the public to follow meetings and budget hearings by providing extractable calendar links (so residents can add meetings to their personal Google calendars) and a clearer public-facing budget season calendar. The vice mayor and council staff said they have added a link tree and are exploring calendar-export functionality to improve public access.
Members also discussed Nashville’s role as host for a National League of Cities event in November; staff said mobile-tour proposals and registration logistics are being compiled and that a registration code will be provided to council members who wish to participate.
