Council approves health department title changes and sheriff position hour clarifications

The county’s HR classification committee recommended two changes for the health department: retitle the immunization nurse to immunization coordinator and increase pay from $30.40 to $31.57 per hour to align with other nursing positions; and combine STDI clinic coordinator and lead immunization roles into a single child safety specialist/clinic coordinator position with no pay change. Cesley Rifert presented the committee recommendations and the council voted 5–0 to authorize the changes.

Separately, the council formalized wording changes for 15 sheriff’s department positions to specify "40 hours per week as assigned," removing strict Monday–Friday language for some roles. Officials said the change clarifies scheduling and avoids ambiguity; the motion to approve the job description adjustments passed 5–0.
