Municipal Park work advances; paving and courts expected after the fair

Jason, speaking during council discussion, said crews are completing earthwork and underground utilities at Municipal Park and that "they're starting to get the sub base in for what will eventually become the... parking lot and the... tennis and pickleball courts." He said crews have been preparing areas ahead of the fair and that paving could begin as soon as late next week or in early August.

Jason also reported crews poured concrete for the splash pad and were working on a shelter and playground areas; he noted the concrete needs to cure before finalization. He said traffic signal bases appear to be complete and the next step is installing poles. Jason added that excavation revealed unforeseen issues that required repair but that those issues "didn't really delay anything."

Councilors asked about related funding: one member asked whether a $40,000 grant for a fitness court had been received and was told the grant is in place. The transcript notes progress at Crossroads Commons as well, where underground work continues and paving is expected to begin soon.
