Commission renews Muncie Downtown Development partnership at $80,000 per year

The commission approved a two‑year renewal of its partnership agreement with Muncie Downtown Development (MDD), continuing the current funding level of $80,000 annually for 2027 and 2028.

The presenter representing Muncie Downtown Development told the commission the agreement is substantially the same as prior agreements but adds language requiring regular reporting on MRC fund expenditures and activities supported through the partnership. The presenter said, “Muncie Downtown Development is the only organization whose sole focus is Downtown Muncie,” and described the organization’s work in economic development, marketing and community activation. A motion to approve the renewal was seconded and passed by a 3–1 vote; one commissioner voted against the renewal.
