Hinsdale board advances first read on preservation grant for 232 S. Clay windows

At the July 21 meeting Trustees heard a first read on a preservation incentive application for 232 South Clay Street. The proposal would replace eight non-operable windows in an enclosed front porch with new Marvin windows that replicate the home's historic appearance.

Staff reported a total project cost of about $17,968, making the 50% grant amount approximately $8,984. The Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the application in July and recommended building-permit fee waivers and expedited review; the commission also recommended approval of the grant. The homeowner told trustees the current porch windows do not operate and that she had researched historically compatible replacements. The item will return for a second read in August and—if approved—grant funds would not be dispersed until work is complete.
