District previews ribbon cuttings, updates progress on bond projects

Duncanville ISD bond program staff reported construction progress and near-term ribbon-cutting plans for multiple campuses, including Central Fine Arts Academy, Smith Early Learning Academy and the Duncanville High School addition.

Marti Zamora and project leads shared photos and status updates for each site. Zamora said, "We're excited for next week's ribbon cutting at Central Fine Arts Academy, Smith Early Learning Academy, and Duncanville High School," and staff reviewed interior and exterior work: landscaping and irrigation at Smith Early Learning, new collaborative learning zones and playground features, cosmetology lab and CTE renovations at the high school, and recently installed cabinetry and floors at Central Fine Arts Academy. Project managers noted ongoing roofing work at Heyman Elementary and the operations complex and said some items (such as a fuel tank delivery) were delayed while a concrete pad contractor was scheduled.

Staff described furniture deliveries that are timed over the next few weeks, targeted night/weekend roofing work to avoid campus events, and coordination with city inspections and the fire marshal to finalize occupancy steps. Several projects were reported as nearly complete while others will continue work into the fall or next spring; staff thanked crews and city inspectors for accommodating weekend inspections and busy campus schedules.

Next steps: staff will continue to monitor punch-list items, schedule final inspections, complete furniture installations and prepare for public ribbon-cutting events announced by the district.
