The self-insurance department asked the committee to amend Resolution R288 of 2016 to increase per-case spending authority for workers' compensation nurse case management from $3,000 to $6,000 to allow more flexibility for complex claims. Staff said the change is intended to provide flexibility for rare, complex cases and that "95% of the time 3,000 is enough, but there are those rare cases that are very complex that require just a little bit more time"; the committee moved and approved the amendment by voice vote.
Staff also presented the 2027 self-insurance participant assessments, reporting they remained largely flat with "about a $1,300 increase overall," a roughly 4% decrease for the county portion and about a 4% increase for municipal participants; volunteers' assessments were unchanged. The budget team reviewed and approved the assessments, and supervisors thanked staff for their work on the budget implications.
