Supervisor seeks reimbursement for Morning Sun first‑responder vehicle; board approves amid one dissent

A Louisa County supervisor told the board they had reviewed Columbus Morning Sun ambulance expenditures and moved to reimburse Morning Sun Ambulance for a first‑responders vehicle the company financed on its own. The motion was seconded and carried after a voice vote; one member registered opposition during the roll call.

The supervisor explained the county had previously delayed buying a rescue ambulance because of the cost of a new county ambulance; that county ambulance’s delivery has been pushed to late October, when tax revenues will be available, and Morning Sun took a loan to cover the first‑responders vehicle in the interim. "I have reviewed the ambulance expenditures for Columbus Morning Sun and LPO and everything looks to be in order. So, I'd move to approve," the supervisor said. Board members asked procedural questions and then voted to approve the reimbursement.

Board members said they would monitor EMS staffing and operations as Morning Sun transitions leadership: the meeting record notes Tom Bryant announced his retirement and that a second‑in‑command will assume leadership. The board did not set additional conditions on the payment.
