Board moves forward on Paradise Elementary safety work; multimodal grant resolution for up to $3 million included in consent items

Superintendent Daffany told the board the district is preparing an engineering and traffic‑study application for a school‑zone designation in front of Paradise Elementary that, if approved, would establish a 15‑mph school zone. She noted a current obstacle: the district’s student data currently list no students identified as walkers, a factor considered in school‑zone approvals. “If approved, this would establish a 15‑mph school zone in front of the school,” Daffany said.

During the consent packet review, Mrs. Walder Stof read a resolution authorizing the superintendent and chief financial and operations officer to execute all documents with the Commonwealth Financing Authority to pursue a multimodal transportation fund grant not to exceed $3 million to be used for transportation safety, accessibility and related infrastructure improvements at Paradise Elementary. The board approved the budget and finance packet, including the grant authorization, in a roll‑call vote. The resolution authorizes district officials to pursue the grant and execute related documents; any award and project scope would return to the board for acceptance and further action.
