Commissioners urge clearer wayfinding, explore volunteer support for Bell Haven Community Campus

Commissioners highlighted several near-term priorities for the Bell Haven Community Campus (BHC), including program support, potential expansion of volunteer roles, and improved exterior wayfinding. The District One subcommittee asked whether Friends-of-the-Library volunteers could be enlisted beyond book-sales work to help with events and program support, while staff cautioned that expanded volunteer roles require training and vetting, especially for work involving children.

Separately, commissioners noted the absence of visible signage marking the Bell Haven Library and discussed adding directional signs on Willow and Hamilton or labeling the campus exterior to help residents locate the branch. Staff said signage and wayfinding are feasible topics for follow-up but may not be quick fixes due to coordination and permitting considerations.
