Police, fire and ambulance present June activity and local public-safety updates

The chief of police reported 311 calls for service in June, with categories that included assaults, disturbances, motor-vehicle crashes and thefts; officers issued traffic and other citations and made adult and juvenile arrests. The chief also summarized a traffic study on the 500 block of Garbage Street conducted between June 8 and June 24, reporting about 17,538 vehicles and an 85th‑percentile speed of 25.05 mph.

The fire marshal said June was a quiet month despite Fourth of July activity and urged residents to check batteries in smoke alarms, install CO monitors, post visible house numbers and avoid re‑entering burning structures. In public comments, Nicole Nagel of Holidaysburg Ambulance reported 344 calls in June (107 in the borough) and 670 calls in the borough year-to-date through July 1, and noted an Eagle Scout project to install a permanent sign at the Scotch Valley building.
