County approves fuel-farm appropriations and moves forward on multiple road contracts

The Public Works Committee approved appropriation motions to address aging fuel farm sites and moved forward several road-related contracts. Staff said two above-ground fuel sites (Hague and Bolton) have exceeded their useful life and recent cracking at the Hague site increased urgency; the committee approved taking about $30,000 from the reserve motor-fuel systems and $114,000 into the road machinery fund to address immediate needs.

The committee also authorized a bid to contract cold milling and paving at the Countryside Adult Home (bids to open on 08/06) and approved multiple county-funded and federal-aid projects in design or right-of-way phases, including bridge replacements and pavement rehabilitations. Staff highlighted that funding and right-of-way acquisitions affect timing and that some projects are under construction (Bay Road over Lockhart Mountain).
