Commission approves $1.43 million in invoices, grant application and equipment transfers on consent

The Clay County Commission unanimously approved a five-item consent agenda that included invoice payments totaling $1,429,575.98 and several equipment-transfer cooperative agreements.

"Have 5 items on our consent agenda tonight," the county administrator said in opening the consent item. The administrator told the commission the invoices covered the period July 1117 and that the consent items also included an FY2027 Missouri Blue Shield grant application for a sheriff van and equipment with total requested costs of $67,553.43 and cooperative agreements to transfer WatchGuard VISTA body cameras and in-car video systems to partner police departments. Commissioner Johnson moved approval and the motion passed on a 5-0 roll call.

The administrator reported the grant request lists the van cost at $58,345 and equipment at $9,208.43, and noted the grant award cap of $28,895.50. The consent agenda also included approval of commission meeting minutes for April and invoice approvals for the prosecutor's office (separately considered on the regular agenda). The commission did not request further discussion prior to the vote.

What happens next: the administrator will proceed with the cooperative agreements and, if awarded, move ahead with the grant submittal process. The commission reconvened to regular-agenda items after the consent vote.
